This year I have the privilege of teaching Humanities to 3 of the 5 1st grade classes, along with all of the 2nd grades. Over the past couple of weeks, two of those classes have been working on our "Hickory Dickory Dock" project. We started by reading the story "Hickory Dickory Dock" by Keith Baker and putting it into song. Next, as a class, we came up with 12 new verses for the story (one verse for each hour on the clock). We started by first picking an animal and then had to use our rhyming skills to decide what the animal was doing to the clock. Once we wrote all of our verses, each student got to work on a different verse, writing it down on their page and then illustrating it and drawing the correct time on their clock. Lastly, we recorded different groups of students singing each of the verses and VOILA! We had a lot of fun watching and learning how to put the video together using iMovie. Here are the video song books that we created--we hope you enjoy them! Great work Mrs. Brines and Ms. Medeiros's classes! I am so happy with how everything turned out!
