Hello Bryant/Pattengill Families! I would like to personally invite you to “An Evening of Music” with the music teachers of the Ann Arbor Schools. This Friday, May 1st at 7:30pm in the lovely Forsythe Middle School Auditorium, many music teachers in AAPS will come together and share their talents in a benefit performance to raise money for the Cooperative Outreach Music Program (COMP). COMP is an AAPS partnership of 20+ years that underwrites the cost of private music instruction to promising students of limited means. The evening’s performances will range from classical to folk, and Broadway to jazz. I have been organizing this event for the past few months and will also be singing and playing guitar with a folk trio. Suggested donations are $10 for adults and $5 for students and all proceeds will go towards COMP. We hope that you will be able to come out and support this program and enjoy an evening of excellent music! I would love to see Bryant/Pattengill families there!
Today we had our first "informance" of the week and it was a huge success! I want to thank all of the different family members that took time out of their day to come and join us in music class. We had over 18 different families represented, and our music room was packed! I really enjoyed being able to talk with you about your child's music education and give you a little crash course on how children learn music :) The students had a great time singing and dancing with you all and loved being able to share all that they have learned this year in music. In case you need it, here is the "informance" schedule for the remainder of the week. We hope to see you at your child's class!
You know those silly looking instruments we have on our classroom wall called boomwhackers? Well check out what a group of musicians in France was able to do with them. Here is a video of them playing Johann Sebastian Bach's Prelude No. 1....on BOOMWHACKERS! How cool is that?! I wonder how much they had to practice to be able to do that?
